For a second conviction: a year in prison and a permanent revocation of driving privileges. These people are far more dangerous than drunk drivers yet the police ignore them. You tell me what society should do to them. If enough people express outrage maybe something will change. How many people need to be killed by bus drivers and train operators "texting" before law enforcement takes this seriously? Usually when they receive a call, first they try to dig for their phones inside their pockets with one hand. If attempt fails, they will divert their attention to search for it in the car. That few seconds on diversion from traffic on the road to the phone can cause accidents! Secondly, after picking up the phone, they will slow down their driving speeds to a crawl and without warning thus endangering the driver behind him! What total morons. Sorry.
