Bailout

I understand that the purpose of the  Stimulus Package is to create 3 million new jobs.

At a cost of about $700 billion dollars that comes out to about $233,000 to create each new job.

Am I missing something in the math????

I’d like one of those.

Where do you apply???

  2. A job for $233,000? Why not? I wouldn’t mind working in a bank with banker’s hours and a banker’s bonus. But isn‘t $233,000 a bit on the low side?

  3. A bailout is just what you want to do if you’re in an oarless rowboat, water up to your ankles, now up to your knees, and the oarless rowboat is sinking. One bails water out from the rowboat and throws it away in order to stay afloat. Ain’t that right? Well then, just what is wrong, John, to throw money away (bailout) to keep the Ship of State afloat?

    There is obviously more than one kind of ‘bail out’.

    There is the sinking boat in which a ‘bail out’ is to the advantage of all those aboard.

    There is the ‘bail out’ of the serial killer who is put back on the streets because of a technicality in the legal process.
    This ‘bail out’ benfits no one

    Then there is the ‘bail out’ of the gambler who has lost most of his assets who, once ‘bailed out’ will go back to the Casino with ‘bail out’ money and lose that too.
    He destroys himself eventually but takes down those who ‘bailed’ him out.

    Then there is the US government bailout.
    I am not at all certain who this is helping other than those who have their hands out.

    My last remark was a jest; nevertheless, you still back-scored on that one.

    Where should I stand to hold out my hand, too? On which corner in DC? I want some of that bailout money on taxpayer loan, that will be paid back by the great-great-grand-grand-grandchildren taxpayers I will never see. No debtor’s problem there, then, for me.
